SUM faculty and staff will use your email to communicate and your student email is used to set up all of your student accounts. SUM uses Gmail for its email server and has a single sign on system set up, so your SUM email address will give you access to everything SUM.
You can download the gmail app on your smart phone, table or laptop.
You will notice that gmail is easy to use, easy to access and has a ton of features included. As a student you will have storage to a google drive as well as access to the full google suite including google docs, sheets and slides as well as google meets, photos and more.
You can also sign on to Gmail and activate your new account at gmail.com.
Setting up your SUM gmail account is simple. Upon acceptance, you should receive a link in your personal email. You can also sign on to Gmail and activate your new account at gmail.com. (Your student email is your lastname.firstname@sum.edu, and the temporary password is sum1234!). Please complete all of the requested information including your phone number so that the two step verification process can be completed. This is required at SUM as a security measure.
