Students may be denied access to SUM’s digital library for several reasons, many of which are quickly corrected.
There are several reasons a student may not be able to access SUM’s digital library. The most common are being logged into a gmail account other than the student’s SUM email account, not enabling two-step authentication, and saved history of old account login information.
If you are unable to access SUM’s digital library, please troubleshoot in the following order:
Ensure that you are not logged into a gmail account other than your SUM email account. You can check which account you are logged into by looking at the information in the top right corner of your browser in google chrome. If a different email appears, log out of that chrome account, log into your sum account and the problem should be resolved.
If you are still unable to access the SUM digital library, please ensure that two-factor authentication is set up for your sum email account. Please check the help desk article for instructions to enable two-factor authentication.
If you are logged into your sum email profile on chrome, your two-factor authentication is set up and you are using the correct password to your email account, it is possible that your browser has stored the old password and the EBSCO login is failing as a result of that. To fix this, please clear the cache and cookies in your browser (you can do this inside your browser settings).
Once they are cleared, go to the library page (sum.edu/library) and access the EBSCO link.
If it is working correctly, it should prompt you for the email and password for the first time.
If you try all of these steps and you still cannot access the digital library, please submit a help ticket. A member of our technical support team will be in touch with you within 24-48 hours during normal office hours.
